Parasite control satisfaction or replacement product provided
Duluth, Ga. – May 2017 – We all know raising cattle isn’t for the weak at heart. It takes brains, skill, grit and the ability to cowboy up when times are hard. Today’s cattle market is tough. As a cattle producer, you are watching costs closer and looking for ways to minimize your risks more than usual.
At Merial, now part of Boehringer Ingelheim, they get it and are confident that LONGRANGE® (eprinomectin) will go to work for you all season. That’s why Merial guarantees the satisfaction of LONGRANGE or they will provide an equal amount of any Merial endectocide of your choice. LONGRANGE is a season-long dewormer that provides up to 150 days of control.1
“With profit margins expected to tighten in 2017, we understand it can be difficult to justify input costs if you aren’t sure you are getting a return on your investment,” says Joe Dedrickson, DVM, Ph.D., Merial Veterinary Professional Services. “We understand, and that’s why we guarantee satisfaction after you use LONGRANGE.”
How the Program Works
When LONGRANGE is used according to the label and if you are dissatisfied with the outcome of your cattle, Merial will give you any Merial brand endectocide formulation of your choice equal to the retail cost you purchased for your cows, calves or stockers.
The satisfaction guarantee is effective for LONGRANGE purchased between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2017.
Research by Iowa State University shows that parasite control tops the list of the most economically rewarding cow/calf pharmaceutical practices. Not controlling parasites can negatively affect a cattle producer’s breakeven by up to $201 per head.2
“A producer’s goal is to see a financial gain and nothing pays off like parasite control, whether in the spring or fall,”Dedrickson says. “Conventional dewormers only last 14-42 days, but most cattle are on grass much longer than that.”
As the first extended-release injectable dewormer, LONGRANGE delivers up to 150 days of parasite control in a single dose. That’s long enough to break the parasite life cycle and effectively reduce parasite burdens on pasture.3,4 Over the course of a season, LONGRANGE costs just 9 cents per day, compared to $1.23 for DECTOMAX® (doramectin) Injectable and $.25 for CYDECTIN® (moxidectin) Injectable.5
“The extended activity of LONGRANGE reduces parasite burdens, even the tough-to-kill species, in the herd, as well as reducing levels in the pasture,” Dedrickson says. “With the addition of the satisfaction guarantee, there is little risk. If you have cattle on grass, you can’t afford NOT to invest in LONGRANGE.”
